The bicycle-on-trains guide expands to France

I’m happy to announce that my guide to bring bicycles on trains is now available for France. It took a bit longer than expected since the last update because bicycles on trains in France are a mess. Each train category has its own policies: long distance trains, low-cost trains, regional trains, not to mention that each of the 12 regions in continental France sets its own rules! The situation is so complicated that a collective was formed to promote bicycles on trains in France: “Mon Vélo Dans le Train” – My Bicycle In The Train.
As usual, my guide documents how the bicycle spaces actually look like on the ground, and other practical information that you don’t see on the official websites of the railways. You’ll also find tips for cross-border rail travel between France and its neighbors. While I’ve tried to be as exhaustive as possible, France is a large country so I’m missing some details, therefore don’t hesitate to contact me if you have feedback or more information to share with the community.
In other news, the Velo-city conference organised by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) is happening in a few weeks. While I won’t be there and I don’t know if any video recordings are made, there will be a panel on the cycling on rails topic to kick off the second edition of the Cyclists Love Trains report. I’m looking forward to reading it!
